Golfing Society are aces high against Gamblers

The Golfing Society were at home again for the first fixture of the second half of the season.

Having lost the first match by seven pins, the Golfing Society were keen to impress the large crowd of supporters, but unfortunately Gibbo (5) had a rare offnight, and although the Leprachaun (26) improved on his recent poor form, the Golfing Society were 14 pins down at the changeover.

With the Gamblers just behind the Golfing Society in the league tables, it fell on Crabbers (26) and The Accountant (23) to shuffle the pack and come up with a winning combination. This they duly did by pulling 20 pins to give the Golfing Society a six pin lead.

Ned (31) and The Captain (36) made no mistakes, and pulled a further 29 pins to see the Golfing Society home for their highest home league score of the season (147), to win by a massive 35 pins.

Next weeks away match on Tuesday has been postponed and will be played at a later date.

Gollfing Society win Duck fest against Alley Cat Strays

In a match littered with ducks, the Golfing Society eventually took the points against an undermanned Alley Cat Strays outfit.

Gibbo (20) and Miss Karaoke (6) amassed six ducks to their opponents eight, and handed over a good 11 pin lead.

The Leprachaun (16) yet again started with three ducks and Crabbers (15) recovering from having to help Mr Wibbly stick up for the first pair, lost sixteen pins to Isaacs and the One Armed Bandit Mike Webb.

With five pins down, Ned (33) and the Capt (25) were surprised to see only one name go up on the board for the opposition, and were therefore relieved to win the match by 22 pins to record the Golfing Society's seventh league win of the season.

Next weeks match is home to the Gamblers, 8.30 start.

New Year Blues for White Hart A

The Golfing Society celebrated the New Year with a welcome away victory at the White Hart, Olveston by trouncing the White Hart A team by 10 pins.

Fielding an unchanged team for the first time this season, Gibbo (26) and Miss Converse (13) were able to pull two pins to give the Golfing Society a deserved lead at the first changeover.

Unfortunately it was a case of after the Lord Mayor's show for last weeks top scorer, as the Leprauchan (7) struggled to clear his head after the New Year celebrations and therefore took this weeks wooden spoon. However Crabbers (28) came to the Golfing Society's rescue with a top score to leave the Golfing Society just four pins down at the next changeover.

With the home side ruing their poor form, Ned (25) and the Capt (28) kept the pressure on and cruised home to a well deserved team victory.

Next weeks match is home to the Alley Cat Strays on 13th January.
