First Timers humbled by magnificent Gibbs

On an alley where the Golfing Society have traditionally struggled, thanks to a fine 43 from Gibbs ably backed up by Bowker (11), the first pair finished all square on 54 a piece.

Tinney (18) and Crabtree (12) only lost 12 pins to their more experienced opponents, leaving Pearce and Pinder plenty to do.

After 3 ups the Golfing Society anchor pair had lost a further 6 pins, and for the only time in the evening the First Timers were smiling!

However, the First Timers could only muster a further 13pins against the Golfing Society's 38, leaving the visitors comfortable winners by 7 pins.

Next weeks home matches start at 8.00pm against the Odds & Ends, and at 9.15pm versus Essilor.

First Victory for Golfing Society

The Golfing Society opened their account with a nine pin home win over the White Hart A.

Thanks to Taylor and Cason, a ten pin lead was built up, only for Bowker and Crabtree to lose 8 pins in the middle sector.

A quickfire 34 from Pearce and 31 from Pinder was enough to see off the opposition.

Next match is versus the First Timers at the Blackhorse on Monday 24th. 8.30pm start.

Lone Rangers win by 17 pins

At the quiet venue that the Plough has now become, the Golfing Society lost by 168 - 151.

Fielding a much changed team, the Golfing Society opening pair of Taylor and Tinney could only raise a single pin advantage for the middle pairing of Gibbs and Crabtree.

Unfortunately, they could not hold on to the slender lead, eventually finishing 17 pins down.

Despite a valiant effort by the nights top scorer Pearce (37), and Pinder were unable to claw any pins back, and the team were left to rue their luck in the deserted public bar afterwards.

Next weeks home match is against the White Hart A.
