Golfing Society fail to survive

The Golfing Society's dismal record of never having won at Almondsbury FC. continued with a narrow defeat at the hands of the Survivors.

Needing a 12 spare to tie the game, Steve Pinder could only manage 9 and the match was lost by 3 pins.

The opening pair of Taylor and Tinney gave the middle pairing of Dack and Williams a narrow lead of 4 pins which could only be improved by 1 further pin, to give the anchor pair 5 pins to play with. Unfortunately 3 ducks scuppered the lead, and the game was lost.

Congratulations go to Vernon Pearce, this weeks high scorer with 30 pins.

Next week the Golfing Society are at home to the Gamblers.

Golfing Society back to winning ways

The Golfing Society returned to winning ways with a narrow 12 pin win over the Inlaws.

The opening pair of Taylor and Tinney gave the middle pairing of Bowker and Williams a 3 pin lead, who were lucky ( Howard says he was unlucky !!) to come off the alley only losing 1 pin.

The anchor pair of Pearce (33 not out!) and Pinder (35 top score) made no mistake, and saw the team safely home.

Thanks must be given to Gibbo for assisting the sticker up, and for Ned Lewis to drag himself off his bed of pain to cheer on the team.

Next match Tuesday away to the Survivors at Almondsbury FC.

Late Start for Inlaws match

The Newtonians will be playing a cup match prior to our match, which means that we are looking at a 9.15pm start.

Apologies for this, but Dickie Low is bigger than me ( and so is Tet and JD) and thats that !!

Golfing Society squeezed by the Wot-u-Wots

Despite being on the end of a 35 pin defeat, the Golfing Society rallied after the first pair of Gibbs and Taylor went down by 42 pins.

Welcoming back Crabtree and Williams to the middle pair, these two stalwarts managed to stem the tide to give Pinder and Tinney a faint chance of winning the game.

A fine score of 40 by Pinder was not enough and the Wot-u-Wots ran out comfortable winners by the end of the match.

Hopefully the team will be at full strength for next weeks home game against the Inlaws.

Golfing Society Blinded by Essilor

Playing their second game of the week, the Golfing Society played their re-arranged game with Essilor.

Hoping to bounce back from their defeat on Monday, the Golfing Society's opening pair of Bowker & Tinney were immediately in trouble, scoring only 6 between them in the opening three ups.

Pearce and Pinder came on try and reduce the opening pair's deficit of 28 pins, but despite only losing a further 2 pins, left the anchor pair of Taylor and Gibbs too much to do, and the match was lost by 34 pins.

Next week's match against the Wot-u-Wots, the team will be boosted by the return of Rich Williams after missing the last two matches due to circumstances beyond his control !!?
