Golfing Society crush Ship-A-Hoys in dramatic Cup Tie 182 - 173

The Golfing Society cruised into the semi-finals of the All-In cup with an emphatic nine pin victory over the Ship-A-Hoys at Thornbury Rugby Club.

With players missing, things looked gloomy with Gibbo (27) and Miss Fire (29) dropping twelve pins to Andrew and Trevor Thorne.

Cup captain Ned then played his master stroke by bringing on the Leprachaun (26) and Starting Price (39) who pulled back nine pins against Glynn Poole and Chris Thorne, to leave the Golfing Society adrift by a mere three pins.

Acting up Ned (28) and the Builder (33) then sealed a dramatic victory by pulling a further twelve pins against Bob Gazard and Tim Thorne to complete the evenings league and cup double.

Next league match is Friday 1st Feb at the Blackhorse Thornbury against F Troop at 9.00pm

Golfing Society run amok against White Hart A 150 - 133

The Golfing Society recorded their first win in 2013 with an early start match against the White Hart A from Olveston.

With Crabbers, the Accountant and the Leprachaun all unavailable, the Golfing Society were expecting a hard match against the White Hart A.

Gibbo (32) refreshed after last weeks snow cancellation, and Miss knock knee (14) got the home side off to a winning start by pulling six pins.

Mr Wibbly (16) playing only his second match of the season since coming out of retirement, and the Capt (27) returning from a back injury pulled a further four pins to give the home side a ten pin lead.

Ned (23) improved after a slow start, and together with the top scoring Builder (38) eased the Golfing Society home by seventeen pins.

Puglers outweigh Golfing Society 118 - 106

The Golfing Society welcomed back Gibbo for his first game since the end of November, but unfortunately it was not a winning return with Gibbo (10) and the Leprachaun (17) losing twenty pins to the Pugler's opening pair.

With Mr Wibbly rested and Mr Wobbly in hospital, the Golfing Society's top scorer of the evening was Crabbers (24), and along with the Builder (16) managed to pull back a pin to leave the Golfing Society trailing by nineteen pins.

The Accountant (16) and Ned (23) gave the Golfing Society a chance of victory by making in roads into the Pugler's lead, but despite clawing back seven pins, the Golfing Society lost their second match of 2013 by twelve pins.

Next weeks match is away to the Wot-U-Wots at the Swan Thornbury 8.30 start.

Golfing Society come second to Five + One 142 - 159

The Golfing Society lost out to newly promoted highfliers Five + One by 17 pins in their first match of 2013.

With Gibbo and the Builder unavailable, and Capt. Pinder unable to play because of a sore back, the Golfing Society pulled Mr Wibbly out of self imposed retirement to start his first match of the season.

The Leprachaun (35) and Miss Ed Thefrontpin (10) got the Golf Society off to a steady start by drawing with the opposition opening pair.

Mr Wibbly (20) and the Accountant (31) were two ducks worse than their opponents, and were unlucky to lose thirteen pins as a consequence.

With Crabbers (22) and Ned (24) struggling, another four pins were lost and the match was confined to history.

Next match is Thursday 10th January away to the Black Horse at 8.30.
