Golfing Society floored by First Timers

The Golfing Society were once again turned over by a team who they should have beaten easily.

Taylor (29) & Crabtree (20) gave the home side a seven pin lead, however despite a valiant effort by Gibbs (15) and newbie Pearce (29), they lost twelve pins and the match all hinged on Tinney (21) and Pinder (23) who eventually lost a further twelve pins, to lose overall by seventeen pins.

Next weeks match is away at the White Hart Olveston on Monday 1st December.

Odds & Ends too good for Golfing Society

Yet another match lost at the Catholic Club due to unavailabilities and poor scoring!

Taylor (24) and Lewis (30) got the Golfing Society off to a good start by pulling out a 4 pin lead over the home side opening pair.

Unfortunately, the middle pair of Crabtree (16) and Gibbs (13) had an off night, and lost 31 pins to give the Golfing Society's anchor pair little chance of winning the match.

But Pearce (39) and Pinder (25) despite pulling back 12 pins, were unable to overhaul the homeside's total score of 162 and so the match was lost by 15 pins.

Next match is Thursday 27th November at the Rugby Club versus the First Timers.

No second innings for Crickets!!

Playing for the first time against the re-formed Crickets (who ru? who ru?), this All-in cup match was always going to be a close run affair, and so it proved with the Golfing Society winning by six pins over their high flying second division opponents.

Capt. Pinder rang the changes for this match with Gibbs (35) and Williams (35) opening up a one pin lead for Crabtree (30) and Lewis (43) to extend by a further six pins.

With the old firm of Pinder (42) and Pearce (31) once more back in harness and despite losing a pin, were able to propel the Golfing Society safely into the next round.

Golfing Society ease to victory over Wot-U-Wots

A hesitant start by Taylor (26) and Lewis (17) saw the Wot-U-Wots take an early two pin lead over the home side.

Things did not improve with the introduction of Gibbs (18) and Williams (27) who lamely gave up a further six pins to leave the anchor pair with an eight pin defecit.

It was at this point that after an inspired signing by the Golfing Society, that Nobby Pearce made his long awaited debut.

Pearce (24) started like a rocket, belying the fact that he hadn't picked up a skittle ball in anger for over 10 years!! With Pinder (29) winning the tote for the home sides highest score, the dynamic duo rolled back the years to win by seven pins.

Next weeks matches are:

Monday at Blackhorse, 7.45pm start versus the Crickets (All-in Cup) and Tuesday 11th November front pin league action against the Odds & Ends at the Catholic Club, 8.30pm start.
