Woodpeckers beaten by well drilled Golfing Society 133 - 141
The Golfing Society played at the Swan Tytherington for the first time in many years and were happy to come away with an eight pin victory against the newly promoted Woodpeckers.
Chairman Leprechaun (14) and Crabbers (25) got the Golfing Society off to a steady start by only dropping three pins to the home side's opening pair.
Needing a quick response, the Golfing Society's middle pairing of the Capt (23) and the Accountant (15) managed to pull back two pins leaving the final pair with the task of at least pulling two pins for victory.
Not to be denied, top scoring and double tote winner Ned (33) and the Builder (31) both skittled with commendable accuracy and beat their opposing pair ( despite a twelve spare) by nine pins, to secure the two points for a well earned victory.
Next weeks match is at home against the Wot-U-Wots on Thursday 5th December.

The Golfing Society stuttered to victory against their fifth division opponents in this seasons preliminary round of the Front Pin Cup competition, winning by only seven pins.

However, a spirited fight back by Chiltern Rovers saw Starting Price (21) lose eighteen pins, but the top scoring Builder (32) rallied the home side by pulling five pins to see the Golfing Society through to the next round.
Next weeks match is on Tuesday away to the Woodpeckers at the Swan Tytherington 8.30pm start.

Roaring Twenties go spare over Golfing Society 183 - 162
Both teams saved their best performances of the season for last nights matchup at the Wheatsheaf. The Golfing Society attained their highest away score of the season, and a dominant Roaring Twenties outfit scored three spares to consign the Golfing Society to only their third defeat of the season.
The writing was literally on the wall when the first pair of Gibbo (23) and Chairman Leprechaun (20) slumped to an eighteen pin deficit from which the Golfing Society were unable to recover.
Sending on the big guns of the Accountant (28) and top scoring Crabbers (33) served only to stem the leakage of pins, as the Roaring Twenties shook the Golfing Society with the second of their three spares to maintain their eighteen pin lead.
With Capt Pinder dropped, it was up to Ned (31) and the Builder (27) to pull the match back for the Golfing Society, but another spare by the home side proved too much for the Golfing Society who lost a further three pins in a twenty one pin defeat.
Next Thursday, there are two home matches with a 7.45 start in the All In Cup against 6th Division opponents Forget Me Knots, and then a league matchup against the Dog Bowlers at 9.00pm.

Ones and Twos at sixes and sevens against impressive Golfing Society 141 - 124
The Golfing Society continued in their winning ways with a seventeen pin away win against a resolute home side at the Swan Thornbury.
Once again, the opening pair put the pressure on their opposite numbers with Crabbers (29) and Chairman Leprechaun (28) propelling the Golfing Society into a fifteen pin lead.
However, it was the same old story with the Golfing Society's middle pair failing to capitalise on the lead given them, with an ailing Accountant (15) and the Capt (13) still seemingly in holiday mode, they lost nine pins to keep the Golfing Society in front by just six pins.
When Ned (30) and the Builder (26) both started off with ducks, it looked like a rare defeat was on the cards for the Golfing Society. There was no need to worry however, as they soon got into their respective strides and pulled a further eleven pins to ease the Golfing Society to a satisfying away win.
Next match is at the Wheatsheaf next Wednesday against the Roaring Twenties 8.30pm start.
