Despite the first pairing of Taylor and Lewis giving the Golfers a 10 pin lead, the inexperienced middle pairing of Bowker and Tinney lost 24 pins, and the game was beyond the final pair of Pearce & Pinder who lost a further 16 pins to hand victory to the First Timers by 30 pins.
For the Golfing Society, Terry Taylor top scored with a excellent 43 pin haul.
This was the Golfing Society's fourth defeat in the league this season.
Next game 8th February at home to the Wot-u-Wots.

White Hart A Rounded Up
The Golfing Society gained revenge for their early season defeat, and ran out comfortable winners by 39 pins.
The first pair of Taylor and Lewis (back from illness and loss of form) pulled a comfortable 22 pin lead for the middle pairing of Tinney and Williams to improve the lead by a further nine pins.
The reliable final pairing of Pearce and Pinder saw the home side through to a well deserved victory.
This weeks top scorer was Rich Williams with a remarkable score of 46.
Ned Lewis was heard to say it was because Richard's son Dan was sticking up, and he was obviously told to put the skittles closer together !
Special mention should go to the WHA team for turning up on the day of Mike Parker's funeral, and despite having drunk their own weight in beer, still managed to turn in a creditable performance.
Next match Monday night at Blackhorse versus First Timers.

Golfing Society Gunned Down By Lone Rangers
Due to delaying tactics by the Lone Rangers ( Dave Longman lost his book and threw his toys out of the pram) the match was delayed by some 10 minutes, as utter confusion reigned in the hunt for the lost book ( which was eventually found in Dave Longmans' coat pocket), and proved a forerunner of the misfortunes and ill luck which was to dog the Golfing Society throughout the evening.
The first pairing of Lewis & Tinney with a combined score of 38 ( congratulations Mike on this weeks top score of 29!), allowed the Lone Rangers to take an early lead of 4 pins.
The middle pairing of Bowker and Williams lost a further 12 pins and the match was virtually over.
Pearce and Pinder were unable to repair the damage and lost a further pin to lose the match by 17 pins in total.
All in all a disappointing result, and the team will be looking to bounce back next Thursday 25th January when they take on the White Hart A on home territory.

Newtonians crushed
The Golfing Society revenged their early exit in this years All-in cup, by defeating the Newtonians by 40 pins in a re-arranged home match.
Showing three changes from the previous week, the result was never in doubt after the middle pairing of Tinney and Williams claimed a lead of 18 pins, for the anchor pair of Pearce and Pinder to pull a further 22 pins to seal another home victory.
Apologies go to the Gamblers who were kept waiting after Dickie Low forgot to tell them that they were on second match of the evening !!
Next weeks match is at The Plough, Thornbury on Thursday 18th January against the Lone Rangers.

Front Pin Cup Shocker
Wether it was lack of match fitness, Christmas hangover or New Year blues, this was a game where the Golfing Society were never to get their noses in front, finally losing by 3 pins to a third division side who were never fazed by their Premier Division opponents.
Howard Bowker top scored for the Golfers with a creditable 29 which included a memorable 9.
The anchor pair of Pearce & Pinder pulled back 13 pins to make an exciting but ultimately disappointing finish to a keenly contested match.
Next week the league match is cancelled on Tuesday night.
