Roaring Twenties blown away by Golfing Society

With the return of absent players from the previous week, the Golfing Society breezed into the Wheatsheaf and re-discovered the form which had been missing from the previous two opening games.

Taylor (28) and Gibbs (35) raced to a 22 pin lead, which the Leprachaun (26) and Mr Wibby (27) consolidated and added a further 3 pins to increase the lead to 25 pins.

Lewis (36) and Pinder (35) did not drop a pin, and the first victory of the season was in the bag.

Next weeks match is against Stone CC at the rugby Club next Thursday.

Golfing Society outmanned by Gamblers

With only five players making up the side this week, the Golfing Society lost their first home match of the season by 36pins.

Taylor (27) and Lewis (23) were unable to contain their younger opponents and finished 5pins down.

With a top score the Leprachaun (29) and the bottom score Mr Wibbly (13) pulled back 4 pins to leave the score 92 - 93 to the Gamblers.

However, it was now one player against two, and the game slowly but surely drifted away to leave the Golfing Society 0-2 for the season so far.

Next weeks match is away to the Roaring Twenties at the Wheatsheaf on Wednesday 23rd September.

Lone Rangers gun down Golfing Society

In scenes resembling "gunfight at the OK Corrall", the Golfing Society were shown no mercy by "Butch Longman" and "Sundance Ponting", who eventually ran out clear winners by 23 pins.

The "Old Faithful" opening pair of Taylor (31) & Lewis (26) were back in harness after their Summer break, and passed on a ten pin lead to Tinney (28) & Williams (20).

Despite a flukey spare by "junior" Ponting, the home side were unable to pull any pins back, leaving the Leprachaun and Mr Wibbly with no pins lost against their names.

However, it was soon to go terribly wrong for The Golfing Society when the Lone Rangers final pair came out with all guns blazing, and blew away the Golfing Society's lead, and ran out comfortable winners by 23 pins over Crabtree (24) and Pinder (19)

Next week match is at home to the Gamblers 8.30 start.
