In a noisy but good humoured match, the Roaring Twenties were defeated by 210 pins to 162.
Vernon Pearce took the bragging rights with a magnificent score of 45.
Newcomer Mike Tinney scored his first 40 of the season, and was just pipped at the post for the tote.
Howard Bowker rose to the occasion with a score of 36. Another four game rest should see him again firing on all cylinders in the New Year.
Special thanks should go to Rich Williams and Gibbo for providing the bread and cheese, pickled onions etc. for the annual pre-Christmas buffet.
Christmas greetings go out to Miriam Williams who will be spending Christmas in Thornbury Hospital, and also to Bill's partner Frances.
Next game on January 5th Front Pin Cup Action against the Moonrakers at the Rising Sun, Frampton Cotterell.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

All-in Cup defeat shock
The Golfing Society suffered a shock defeat at the hands of the Newtonians on Thursday night.
The opening pair of Taylor and Lewis flattered to deceive with opening scores of 8 each, gradually tailing off to leave the middle pair of Gibbs and Cason with the task of pulling back 14 pins. This was totally beyond them, and in fact they lost a further 11 pins, leaving the anchor pair of Pinder and Pearce to restore the lead. However, despite a valiant top score by Pinder of 39 pins, they were only able to pull back 7 pins overall, leaving the Newtonians victors by 18 pins.
Next Thursday, Premier league action is resumed at home against the Roaring Twenties, when the Golfing Society hope to resume their winning ways.
Dont forget your Christmas cards next week !!

Away to White Hart Colts 28th November 2006
A convincing 24 pin victory at the White Hart Olveston, saw the Golfing Society consolidate their top position in the Premier Division of the Thornbury Skittles League.
Highlight of the evening was a top score of 36 by Terry Taylor which saw him scoop the rollover tote of £1.50
Rich Williams was unlucky to finish with a total score of 14, however Captain Pinder was heard to mutter that had Rich been wearing his team shirt, he could have been challenging for the nights top score, instead of the lowest!!
Special mention should go to novice Paul Dack with an excellent 23 pins to his name.
Next match 8.00pm start at the Rugby Club against the Newtonians on Thursday 7th December.

The Golfing Society came away with a 22 pin victory over the Inlaws at the Catholic Club Thornbury on a wet and windy night. This ensured that the team maintained their position in first place in the premier division with sixteen points to date.
Mr Lewis observed that the team only needs another 8 points to avoid relegation !!
Top scorers were V Pearce and S Pinder with 36 pins each, meaning that the tote would be carried over for a 2nd consecutive time.
Next match will be at the White Hart Olveston on Tuesday 28th November.
Team to be selected on the night.
