Gamblers lucky 13 beat unlucky Golfing Society

For the third match in a row, the Golfing Society lost by 13 pins, and with just 6 ducks this week could have turned the match on it's head by just scoring at least 2 pins instead of ducks.

Taylor(17) and Tinney(18) put the Golfing Society into an early lead, however with Gibbs(5) misfiring and Crabtree(21), the advantage swung back to the Gamblers to lead by 3 pins going into the anchor pairs.

Lewis(25) took the top score honours for the Golfing Society, and with Pinder(21) remaining top of the averages, the Golfing Society were unlucky to lose a further 10 pins and fall to yet another defeat.

Next weeks match is a "must win" against the Roaring Twenties at home on Thursday 4th Feb.

Golfing Society duck out against Lone Rangers

If the Golfing Society are to remain in the First Division, they need to address the growing problem of ducks.

In the season to date, in 15 matches there have been 102 ducks which is nearly 7 ducks a match.

In this weeks match, there were 8 to their opponents 3, so they are effectively only playing with five players instead of six every week.

Taylor(24) and Gibbs(30) were the pick of the home pairs only dropping one pin against Ponting (Jnr.) and Cumming, despite conceding two ducks to nil.

Unfortunately Bowker(16) and Crabtree(26) conceded 5 ducks to 2 against Gardiner and Longman, and a further 9 pins were lost.

With 10 pins to find, Lewis(28) and Pinder (25) were on a 1 duck par with Curtis and Ponting (Snr.), but lost a further 3 pins for the match to be won by the visitors overall by 13 pins.

Next weeks match is away versus the Gamblers at Coalpit Heath Miners Club.

Golfing Society no match for Survivors

The Golfing Society presented bottom of the table Survivors with a belated Christmas present of two points, with yet another disappointing display in their first home match of the New Year.

Taylor(20) and Gibbs(20) got the Golfing Society off on a steady start, but were unable to keep pace with their opponents and found themselves eight pins down at the handover.

Crabtree (20) and Williams (12) lost another couple of pins and with Lewis(19) and Pinder(29) unable to stem the tide, the match was lost by 13 pins.

Next week the Lone Rangers come into town, and the Golfing Society will have to play much better to get their first victory of 2010.
