Generators overpowered by Golfing Society 76 - 115

In a strangely deserted Almondsbury Social Club, the Golfing Society met second division Generators in the first round of the Front Pin cup.

Crabbers (17) and the Leprachaun (23) got the Golfing Society off to a sparkling start by pulling nineteen pins.

Starting Price (18) and cup captain Ned (21) continued the Golfing Society's cracking start by gaining a further twentyseven pins to give the away side a magnificent forty six pin advantage.

The Accountant (23) was also in the pink, and along with the Builder (13) eased the Golfing Society through to the next round by 39 pins.

Alley Cat Strays demolished in late night shocker 123 - 136

The Golfing Society who have never been early night skittlers, were handed a bonus by being kept waiting for their chance to inflict an early season defeat on their home alley rivals.

As the clock ticked on, the Golfing Society kept in contention by Miss A & E (22) and the Leprachaun (26) by only losing two pins to John and Mark.

Despite the lateness of the hour, Crabbers (23) and the Capt (15) managed to pull back the deficit against Phil and the Kneedy One to leave the match tied at 86 pins apiece.

With the Accountant (23) and the Builder (27) both up past their bed times, the Golfing Society's anchor pair made no mistakes, and pulled an impressive 13 pins against Steve and the hapless Bobby.

An apology for the late start from the opposition captain would have been appreciated, but two valauable points made up for the lack of simple manners.

Merry Christmas to all my readers!

Lone Rangers squeeze past Golfing Society 162 - 152

After two successive cup wins the Golfing Society returned to action against the high riding Lone Rangers, looking to continue their cup success and to improve their league position.

Gibbo (22) and the Capt (27) got the away side off to a good start by pulling four pins against Pont jnr and Ceri.

Unfortunately the Golfing Society middle pair of the Accountant (23) and Ned (22)  were no match for Mel and Longy and dropped an unlucky thirteen pins to leave the Golfing Society nine pins adrift.

With all to play for the Builder (31) and Miss edout on the tote (27) kept Kev and Pont snr on their toes, but were ultimately beaten by one pin, to see their close rivals win by ten pins.

Next weeks match is postponed against Stone CC (surprise surprise) so next league action will be against the Alley Cat Strays on 10th December at the Rugby Club.

The draw for the 1st round of the Front Pin Cup has been made, and we are drawn away against the Generators who play at Almondsbury Social Club. The match will be played during weeks commencing 17th & 24th December......date to be confirmed.

A Men no match for Golfing Society 141 - 157

The Golfing Society overcame division three strugglers by 16 pins in this 3rd round matchup in the All-In cup.

With only six players available, captain for the night Ned's only decision was what permutation to play the team in.

Gibbo (26) and the Leprachaun (16) were chosen to lead, and duly put the Golfing Society into a four pin lead against their plucky opponents.

Starting Price (28) and the Accountant (30) consolidated the lead by pulling a further eleven pins to put the away side firmly on course for the quarter finals.

Disappointingly, the top scoring Builder (32) and Capt. Ned (25) could only pull a single pin, and the home side were given a resounding three cheers despite being defeated.

Next match is on Thursday 29th November at the Knot of Rope versus the Lone Rangers.

Skuttlers skittle out Golfing Society

With both teams matching each other in league positions, this looked to be a tight match, but the old failings of too many ducks was to cost the Golfing Society dear.

Miss Take (12) and the Leprachaun (27) dropped nine pins against Dennis and R John, with the duck count being 4  against 2.

The Capt (28) top scored for the Golfing Society beating Ben by one pin, but the Accountant (22) dropped three pins against Skuttle leaving the Golfing Society adrift by eleven pins.

The builder (20) and Ned (20) lost 19 pins against Trev and Brillo and the match was lost by thirty pins.

Golfing Society overwhelm GMaps 206 - 150

The Golfing Society were overwhelming favourites to win this 2nd round All In cup tie against sixth division Gmaps, and despite thelower division side putting on a creditable performance, the Golfing Society ran away with the match by fifty six pins.

The Leprachaun(36) and Miss late on parade (39) top scored for the home side and pulled forty five pins to get the Golfing Society well on their way to victory.

The Accountant (28) and the Builder (36) showed what good all in players they are by pulling a further eleven pins to lead the home side into the next round.

That old golfing duo of Crabbers (34) and match captain Ned (33) were held all square by their gutsy opponents and the match was done and dusted.

Golfing Society duck out against Odds & Ends 120 - 139

Having to play two matches in one night meant having to have an early start against the Odds & Ends. This clearly was not to the Golfing Society's liking, and as a result they "scored" ten ducks and lost the match by nineteen pins.

With Gibbo on vacation, messrs Wibbly and Wobbly also unavailable, the team was reshuffled to include the returning Vernon Pearce.

Crabbers (19) and the Capt (15) got the home side off to a shakey start by losing twenty two pins, leaving it all to be done by the remaining home side pairings.

The Accountant (25) and the Builder (24) top scored for the Golfing Society pulled a magnificent twenty six pins back in reply, giving the home side a sniff of victory by leading by four pins.

Unfortunately, the normally reliable pairing of the Leprachaun (22) and Ned (15) were unable to maintain the momentum, and crashed by twenty three pins to consign the Golfing Society to their fourth defeat of the season.

Next weeks match is away to the Skuttlers on Wednesday when the Golfing Society will be looking to continue with their away winning form.

Inlaws outed by rampant Golfing Society 160 - 174

For the first time in recent seasons the Golfing Society completed a match without one duck being scored. With the home side scoring seven ducks, the only surprise was that the Golfing Society didn't win by more pins.

Gibbo (32) and the Capt. (26) got the Golfing Society off to a solid start and laid the foundations for their second away win of the season by pulling five pins.

With Miss one-eye and Mr Wobbly missing, the reliable middle pair of Crabbers (25) and The Accountant (33) again matched the Golfing Societys opening pair, but pulled a further eighteen pins to leave the Golfing Society in the box seat going into the final pairings.

The Leprachaun (25) and equal top scorer Ned (33) although losing nine pins saw the Golfing Society safely home to their highest scoring away victory of the season by fourteen pins.

Next week the Golfing Society will be playing two matches at home on Thursday. The first match will be a league match against the Odds & Ends starting at 7.45, and the second is an All-in Cup 2nd round match against the G Maps at 9.00pm.

Gibbo (29) and the Captain (24) got the Golfing Society off to a steady start, but lost four pins going into the middle pairings.

Crabbers (24) and the Accountant (29) got identical scores to the Golfing Society opening pair, but lost seven pins to leave the home side adrift by eleven pins.

The Leprachaun (25) and top scoring Ned (31) were the Golfing Society's top scoring pair, but still lost another six pins to lose the match by seventeen pins.

Gibbo (20) and the Capt. (27) got the Golfing Society off to a good start by pulling a vauable six pins.

With messrs Wibbly and Wobbly absent along with Miss Conjunctivitus, the middle pairing of Crabbers (29) and the Accountant (29) made no mistakes and pulled a further thirteen pins to give the Golfing Society a nineteeen pin lead.

The Leprachaun (28) and Ned (26) pulled a further twelve pins to secure their mid table position in the premier league.

Golfing Society beat Oldberries 205 - 167

The All-in Cup already has the Golfing Society's name on it having last won it ten years ago. In recent times the Golfing Society have failed to make it past the first round, and they were determined that the same fate wouldn't happen again against their fourth division opponents.

Gibbo (32) and the Captain (32) playing in the place of Miss Red-Eye, put the Golfing Society on course for victory by pulling four pins.

With Mr Wobbly unfit and Mr Wibbly missing the cut-off time, the middle pairing of Crabbers(36) and the Accountant (35) pulled a magnificent twenty two pins to put the Golfing Society twenty six pins up going into the final pair.

The Leprachaun (41) was wearing his favourite pink striped shirt, and together with Ned (29) still showing signs of his recent gateaux fest, they brought the Golfing Sociey home to victory by thirty eight pins and a place in the 2nd round of the All-in Cup.

Next weeks match is a return to league action, away to newly promoted Jokers next Wednesday at the British Legion club Patchway.

Golfing Society hammer White Hart Colts 120 - 119

After last weeks defeat, the Golfing Society bounced back to winning ways with a crushing one pin victory over the visiting White Hart Colts.

In an easier than expected match, the Golfing Society were soon five pins down with the management crew of the Leprachaun (20) and Crabbers (14) just about keeping pace with their opponents.

It all changed however with the introduction of the Captain (16) and Miss first time out this season (22) who only scored two ducks between them to launch the Golfing Society into a two pin lead.

This seasons top scorer the Accountant (29) and fresh from a Black Forest gateaux Ned (19) were lucky to only lose one pin to see the Golfing Society record their second win of the season.

Next weeks match is an All-in cup tie against 4th division Oldberries at home next Thursday 11th Oct.

Thursday Thirsties beat Golfing Society 141 - 131

Looking for an improved performance after last weeks home defeat, the Golfing Society were again let down by a poor start.

Mr Wobbly (9) booked his place on next weeks squatters bench with four ducks, however Gibbo (23) made a welcome return to the team after his absence last week, but could not stop the pair dropping sixteen pins.

In an attempt to save the match, the big guns of the Accountant (28) and Crabbers (18) were sent on, but could only pull back six pins to leave the Golfing Society adrift by ten pins.

Could last weeks bottom scorer turn the match around? Unfortunately not, but the Leprachaun (32) did bounce back with the teams top score of the night, and with the Captain (21) were unlucky not to pull any pins.

Next weeks match is home to the White Hart Colts, Thursday 4/10 at 8.30pm.

However, the Golfing Society started slowly with the Leprachaun (8) and Mr Wobbly (20) and found themselves twenty nine pins down against the newly promoted F Troop.

In an attempt to pull things around, the Capt (27) and the yet again top scoring Accountant (32) came on, and managed to pull back 19 pins, to leave the Golfing Society just ten pins down going into the final pairing.

Crabbers (26) and holiday mood Ned (16) could only draw with their opponents, and the match was lost by ten pins.

Golfing Society punish Wot-U-Wots 149 - 128

Having avoided relegation last season by the slimest of margins, the Golfing Society were determined to win their first match of the season, and so it was as the Golfing Society cruised to victory by 21 pins.

The Leprachaun (25) and Gibbo (29) held their opponents to 54 pins apiece, to give the Golfing Society a chance to pull some pins with their experienced middle pairing.

Crabbers (18) and the top scoring Accountant (39) pulled a potentially match winning 24 pins to give the final home pair an easy ride to victory.

However despite a comfortable score from Ned (31), the Captain (7) struggled to find any form and they lost three pins but nethertheless were in the end comfortable winners.

Next weeks match is cancelled as the captain is on holiday and with others unavailable the match will be played later in the season.

The Leprachaun (19) and the Accountant (7) were disappointing, but only dropped five pins to give the anchor pair every chance of winning the match.
