Golfing Society left flat by Shandy's Gang

This tense relegation battle was never going to be easy, and so it proved with the Golfing Society stumbling to yet another home defeat by 4 pins.

Taylor(25) and Williams(22) got the Golfing Society off to a winning start albeit by one pin, but unfortunately the middle pairing of Tinney(16) and Gibbs(10) was not a success with five ducks between them, and the Golfing Society were 14 pins down going into the final phase of the match.

Lewis (24) and Pinder(23) pulled back 10 pins, but it was a case of too little too late, and Shandy's Gang were celebrating an unlikely win.

Next week, the Golfing Society are on their travels to play the Jokers at the Royal British Legion on Wednesday evening.

Stone CC stump Golfing Society

Fresh on the heels of last weeks stunning victory, the Golfing Society arrived at the Salutation at Ham, full of optimism for the possibility of a rare home defeat for Stone CC.

With Taylor(36) and Williams(36) the Golfing Society cruised into a deserved early lead of 8 pins, having only dropped one duck to their opponents two.

However, after the drinks interval Stone came out all guns blazing and prompted a middle order collapse with Tinney(29) and the unlucky Mr Pastry (13) dropping 27 pins, which left the anchor pair chasing 19 pins for victory.

Unfortunately Lewis(26) and Pinder(33) were unlucky to come up against a Stone CC pair who between them scored 87 pins, and the match was well and truly lost by 47 pins when Stone CC drew stumps.

Next home match is Thursday 18th February where the Golfing Society have the chance to gain another home victory, and double against Shandy's Gang.

Golfing Society hush the Roaring Twenties

In yet another low scoring match, the Golfing Society outscored their opponents by nine ducks to five, but thanks to Taylor (30) and Williams (16) this made little difference as they pulled 19 pins, to give the middle pair of Bowker (26) and Tinney (23) valuable breathing space.

With the a fourteen pin lead the anchor pair of Lewis (22) and Pinder (27) despite dropping 4 pins, allowed the Golfing Society to record their first victory since the end of November 2009.

The Golfing Society can now look forward to an away match on Monday 8th away to Stone CC with increased confidence after completing their first double win of the season.
