Rafters almost sink Golfing Society 89 - 93

This was the Golfing Society's first ever visit to Hanson's Social Club to play last years third division champions. Having negotiated the roadworks and route diversion through Hanson's cement yard, the Golfing Society finally managed to come away victorious by four pins against a tenacious home side.

Mr Wobbly (7) and the top scoring Capt (25) pulled the Golfing Society into a slender lead, and were ably supported by Chairman Leprechaun (21) and the Accountant (17) to put the Golfing Society into a twenty seven pin lead.

However, the Golfing Society then proceeded to lose twenty three pins with Ned (4) and the Builder (19) just managing to pip the Rafters by four pins at the finish.

Next week will see Capt Lewis in charge against the Hasslers at home 8.30 start.

First league win for Golfing Society against The Service 135 - 123

The Golfing Society held their nerve against extremely fast skittling, to record their first league win after two previous near misses.

With several unavailability's, the team format was once again juggled around with Mr Wobbly (15) and Crabbers (21) in the starting pair line-up, and pulled three pins to give the Golfing Society a slender lead.

Chairman Leprechaun (29) and the Capt (16) dropped a couple of pins against the Service's middle pair, and with the Accountant on his summer hols, the old pairing of Ned (24) and the Builder (30) were once more reunited to bring the Golfing Society home to win by twelve pins.

Next match is at Hansons Social Club in Chipping Sodbury, 8.30pm start. Friday 27th.

Persuaders brush aside Golfing Society 102 - 95

In their first meeting for many a year, it was the Persuaders who came off the alley deserved winners, after another poor display from the Golfing Society who amassed a total of fifteen ducks in the match.

Gibbo (9) went from top score last week to bottom score this week, and together with Crabbers (17) they lost eight pins.

The Capt (16) and Ned (17) did nothing to help the situation and lost a further 4 pins to put the Golfing Society twelve pins adrift.

The Accountant (15) and the Builder (21) both beat their opponents, but could only pull back five pins to leave the Persuaders celebrating, and the Golfing Society at the foot of division 2.

Next weeks match is home on Thursday to the Service, 8.30 start.

Golfing Society pipped by Newtonians

The Golfing Society's first league match in Division 2 was a great disappointment, as the home side lost by two pins to continue their poor form that led to relegation last year.

With three of the team unavailable due to other commitments, Mr Wobbly (15) made one of his rare appearances in the team, but despite a cracking score from Gibbo (35), the opening pair lost twelve pins to JD and little Sean.

Chairman Leprechaun (15) and the Capt (23) rallied the Golfing Society by pulling sixteen pins from Dickie Low and Tet.

With the Golfing Society now in a four pin lead, the anchor pair of the Accountant (21) and the Builder (20) should have seen the home side to victory, but a spirited revival by Nobby Curtis and Birdy, saw the Newtonians sneak home to consign the Golfing Society to their first defeat of the season.

Next weeks match is Tuesday at the Blackhorse, 8.30 start versus the Persuaders.
