Golfing Society blunted by Woodpeckers 129 - 142

An after the Lord Mayor's Show resulted in defeat for the Golfing Society, who playing their second match of the evening came off second best to a determined Woodpeckers side.

Showing just one change from the earlier match, the Golfing Society struggled to get to grips with the match, and were well beaten by the end of the matchup.

With Cup Captain Ned dropped after the first match, the team was rejigged, but the luckless Crabbers (16) and a harassed Chairman Leprechaun (16) showed nothing like their true form and dropped four pins to their dogged opponents.

The flushed Accountant (25) and out of position Gibbo (14) were unable to fashion a recovery for the Golfing Society and together lost a further seven pins.

The Capt. (21) played anchor for the first time this season and together with a feisty top scoring performance by the Builder (37), were the top scoring pair for the Golfing Society however they were outscored by two pins and a match that should have been won was lost.

Golfing Society fall to lowly Dog Bowlers 121 - 142

The Golfing Society came off second best against a Dog Bowlers outfit fighting to avoid relegation to the Third Division.

With Gibbo unavailable, the Golfing Society's opening pair of Chairman Leprechaun (26) and Crabbers (9) got the away side off to a poor start by dropping seventeen pins to an inspired home pair.

The Accountant (12) and top scoring Capt. (30) could make no headway into the deficit and the home side were able to pull a further thirteen pins to give the Dog Bowlers an overall lead of thirty pins.

This proved too much of a mountain to climb for the Golfing Society's top scoring anchor pair of Cup Captain Ned (17) and the Builder (27), who despite clawing back nine pins were only able to reduce the losing margin to twenty one pins.

Next match is on Thursday 27th March at home to the Wot-U-Wots at 7.45, followed by the Woodpeckers at 9.00 in which have become two must win games.
