Golfing Society's first double of season against Jokers

For the second week running, the Golfing Society found high scores hard to come by, but proved if you score less ducks you can still win.

Looking to complete their first double of the season, Gibbo (22) was restored to the side and along with the Leprachaun (24) were only four pins down at the changeover thanks to the Jokers scoring three ducks to nil.

Crabbers (22) was rock solid against his opponent pulling eight pins for the pair, as the Accountant (16) was suffering from a bout of manflu and was only able to match his opposite number's score.

With the match points now up for grabs, the Golfing Society's anchor pair made no mistakes with Ned (23) and the Capt. (26) top scoring, to secure the Golfing Society's tenth win of the season.

Next weeks match is away to the Puglers on Thursday with an 8.30pm start.

Lone Rangers gunned down by Golfing Society

Anxious to put last weeks defeats behind them, the Golfing Society were looking to resume their climb up the league table. Despite some unavailabilities causing a reshuffle within the team, the Golfing Society were victorious by two pins after a last gasp score with the final ball of the match.

The dynamic duo of the top scoring Leprachaun (33) and Crabbers (28) caused consternation in the Lone Rangers team, by pulling a pin against their formidable opening pair.

Upset by this, the home side were stung into action and played their joker hand of Longman & Son, to try and swing the match back in their favour. However, the Golfing Society were up for the challenge with the Accountant (27) and the Capt. (25) pulling a further seven pins, despite the distraction of chip butty's arriving half way through the match.

With an eight pin lead, Mr Wibbly (26) was brought out of retirement, and together with Ned (20) they hung on against messrs Ponting (jnr) and Gardiner to take home two valuable points from Fort Knot of Rope.

Next weeks match is home to the Jokers next Thursday 17th Feb.

Golfing Society break all records!

With two matches on the same night, one in the front pin cup and the other in the league, this was always going to be a night of extremes. The cup match brought about the Golfing Society's lowest home score of the season, and the league match the highest.

The first match was a second round cup tie against the White Hart A, who the Golfing Society had defeated in the league some weeks earlier.

However, this time nothing went to plan and Gibbo (23) and Miss Hit (9) lost eighteen pins by the changeover, only to be followed by the talismatic duo of The Laprachaun (19) and Crabbers (16) who despite low scores managed to pull a pin to reduce the deficit.

Unfortunately despite Ned (24) and the Capt. (18) being the home sides highest scoring pair, they lost a further twenty three pins to record the lowest home score of the season (109) and the tie was lost by forty pins.

The second match was against Stone CC, where earlier in the season the Golfing Society had produced their highest away score but were defeated in the process.

This match was to prove no different, with the Golfing Society scoring their highest home score of the season (156) but still ending up on the losing side.

Gibbo (21) and the Leprachaun (28) started brightly but were shaded out by thirteen pins, to leave the middle combination of the high scoring Accountant (38) and Crabbers (15) to pull a single pin to cut the deficit to twelve.

Ned (28) and the Capt.(26) were again the Golfing Society's top scoring pair, but still lost a further six pins to consign the home team to an eighteen pin defeat.

Next weeks match is away to the Lone Rangers at the Knotted Rope on Thursday 10th Feb.
