The Golfing Society gained promotion to bounce back to the 1st Division after suffering relegation last season.
With the knowledge that two points would seal their promotion spot (subject to ratification by the league), the Golfing Society cruised to a thirty seven pin victory over their game opponents.
The match got off to a cracking start despite missing bonus ball winner Gibbo, with Chairman Leprechaun (32) and Crabbers (34) racing into a thirty four pin lead.
This was ably followed up by Toneeeeeeeeeeeeee the Accountant (33) and the Capt. (23) pulling a further seven pins to put the Golfing Society firmly in the box seat.
Cup Captain Ned (25) and the Builder (25) dropped just four pins to orchestrate the Golfing Society's return to the top tier of skittles in Thornbury and District.
Congratulations to all involved, and we now await the outstanding results of the Newtonians to confirm the final league positions.

Golfing Society beaten by Olveston Youngsters 127 - 133

Gibbo (22) and Crabbers (25) pulled an excellent seventeen pins which was further increased by Chairman Leprechaun (25) and the Accountant (20) to give the Golfing Society an impressive lead of twenty five pins going in the anchor pairs.
Cup Captain Ned (18) and the Capt. (17) were unable to hold onto the away side's lead, and steadily leaked pins to their opposite numbers who both scored thirty three pins to consolidate their teams position at the top of the league with one match to go.
