Golfing Society run dry against Thursday Thirsties

This was a far closer match than the losing margin of 15 pins suggests.

Crabtree(19) and Taylor(26) got the Golfing Society off to a good start, and were unlucky to come off two pins down. Tinney(19) and acting Captain Williams (15) also lost another two pins, but it was a relief for the anchor pair to come to the alley only single figure pins down.

However the Thursday Thirsties dashed all hope of a home victory and despite good performances by Lewis(32) and Pinder(25), dropped a further eleven pins to deliver yet another home defeat for the stuttering Golfing Society.

Next match on 8th January cancelled due to pantomime, so next match will be home to the Survivors on Thursday 14th January 2010

Merry Christmas & a happy New Year.

Saints go marching on over Golfing Society

The Golfing Society fell at the first hurdle when taking on third division team Saints at Almondsbury Town FC in the first round of this years Front First Cup.

To be fair, history was against the Golfing Society never having won at Almondsbury, and so it was no surprise to lose, but the 51 pin defeat was still hard to take.

An off form Taylor(11) and Gibbs(10) lost twenty nine pins to their free scoring opponents, and with Tinney(19) and Lewis (18) unable to make any headway, the team were already forty four pins down before the anchor pair were able to take to the alley.

However despite good scores from Crabtree(26) and Pinder(31) another seven pins were lost, and the Golfing Society had slumped to yet another dismal defeat.

White Hart A run amok against Golfing Society

The Golfing Society crashed to a 48pin defeat against high flying White Hart A.

With two opening ducks for the Golfing Society it was always going to be an uphill struggle at the White Hart, where despite good scoring from Taylor (18) and Tinney (22) the home side eased into an eleven pin lead.

Crabtree (8) and Gibbs (12) were unable to make any headway, and lost a further eleven pins to put the match out of reach of the Golfing Society.

Williams (10) and Pinder (12) lost a further 26 pins to make it a night to forget.

Next league match will be Thursday 17th December home to Thursday Thirsties.

Golfing Society crushed by Alley Cat Strays

The Golfing Society were soundly beaten by a resurgent Alley Cat Strays outfit, who as past winners of the Bill Blakemore Cup, were worthy winners on the night.

Taylor(32) and Gibbs(15) lost 6 pins to Love & Dean, and the middle pair of Crabtree (31) and Tinney (27) only dropped one pin against Fowler & Isaacs.

Being only 7 pins down, and the one armed bandit not playing, the Golfing Society were expecting Lewis (13) and Pinder (21) to cruise home to victory. However, poor play and bad luck resulted in them losing a further 19 pins against Markey & Kinnear who saw the away side through to victory.
