Golfing Society back on form against Survivors

The Golfing Society avenged their early season defeat, to win by 22 pins against their opponents from Almondsbury.

Taylor (22) and Gibbs (22) had several hits and misses between them, but were good enough to pull a 16 pin lead out of the hat.

With the Wibbly Wobblys unavailable, it was left to "man at C&A" Tinney (26) and Paul "mr submersible pump 1975" Dack (26) to consolidate and increase the lead by a further 7 pins.

Pearce (26) and Pinder (26) were never in danger of losing the match, and the Golfing Society are once more on track for a top three placing at the end of the season.

Next match is against the Gamblers at Coalpit Heath on Monday 3rd March.

Cup Hopes blown away by Roaring Twenties

Promotion hopefuls the Roaring Twenties who are looking to add Front First cup honours to go alongside their winning this seasons All - In Cup, were good value for their six pin victory over the Golfing Society.

Taylor (30) and Gibbs (26) gave the 1st division side a solitary one pin lead, which the middle pairing of the Bearded Womble (37) and Paul "pump it up" Dack (13) increased to a slender four pin advantage.

Pearce (32) and Pinder (36) were unlucky to come up short against their high scoring opponents, and lost ten pins to concede defeat.

Tomorrow nights match against the Survivors will start at 9.15pm.

Golfing Society held by Wot-U-Wots

In a match where no quarter was asked or given, a severely depleted Golfing Society were good value for their share of the points.

With Lewis yet again languishing in Southmead Hospital, it was time for the TT pairing of Taylor (31) and Tinney (29) to push the Golfing Society into a 14 pin lead.

The new pairing of "The Management" aka Dack (18) and Mr Pastry (21) did well to only lose 7 pins to give the anchor pair a good chance of winning the match.

Mr Wobbly (13) was unlucky and Capt. Pinder (34) top scored for the home side, only to be denied the win by the oppositions final ball.

Next week, the Golfing Society play in the Front First Cup at the Wheatsheaf on Wednesday, and then resume league action home against the Survivors on Thursday.

First Time defeat in 2008

After a run of victories stretching back to December last year, the Golfing society were brought back to earth with a crushing defeat by the relegation threatened First Timers.

Taylor (22) and Lewis (12) got the home team off to an unusually low scoring start, dropping 19 pins to their opponents.

The Golfing Society's hopes now rested with the Bearded Waster (8) and the Irish Leprechaun (28), but these were dashed by the Bearded Wasters chronic knee injury which was not fully revealed until he attempted to throw his first ball down the alley!!! This luckless pairing leaked a further 33 pins leaving the anchor pair a mountain to climb.

Not wishing to throw in the towell, Pearce (35) and Pinder (28) pulled back 19 pins only to lose the match by 33 pins.

Next weeks match against Essilor is postponed.
