The Golfing Society stuttered to victory against their fifth division opponents in this seasons preliminary round of the Front Pin Cup competition, winning by only seven pins.
Crabbers (19) and Chairman Leprechaun (19) having to play with borrowed balls, both struggled and could only pull two pins against their opposite numbers.
Capt Ned then put on Miss Understood (21) and the Accountant (29) who steadied the ship by pulling eighteen pins to give the Golfing Society a comfortable twenty pin lead.
However, a spirited fight back by Chiltern Rovers saw Starting Price (21) lose eighteen pins, but the top scoring Builder (32) rallied the home side by pulling five pins to see the Golfing Society through to the next round.
Next weeks match is on Tuesday away to the Woodpeckers at the Swan Tytherington 8.30pm start.
